Mitakhi
Mitakhi, an Alaskan
Malamute, was rescued after nine years as a show dog and breeder.
She had a very busy life,
being driven around the countryside, winning ribbon after
ribbon at various dog shows, and in between shows she was busy
having puppies.
Mitakhi’s owners were
relocating to a smaller property and winding down their showing and
breeding activities, so they could not keep Mitakhi
and another dog. Through a friend, Mitakhi and the
other dog were referred to The Animal Rehoming
Service.
Volunteer Rob and Board Member Felicity headed to the outskirts
of Ballarat to rescue Mitakhi and the other dog.
A foster home had been organised for the other dog, who
was subsequently successfully rehomed.
Rob and Felicity adopted Mitakhi and is now a permanent resident along with
their 20 year old cat.
